Removal Companies in London & Merton
The London Borough of Merton is located in south west of London. The borough of Kingston upon Thames lies on its western border, Sutton in the south, Wandsworth on the north while the boroughs of Croydon and Lambeth touch its eastern border. The borough takes its name from the historic parish of Merton which was originally based in South Wimbledon. Historically, the Borough has very broad social economic range with Wimbledon being affluent and Mitcham on the other hand being less affluent, the name Merton was seen as a reasonable compromise. There are 3 main commercial centres in the Borough of Merton, namely Mitcham, Morden and Wimbledon. The largest of the three is Wimbledon. All three main centres are suitable for setting up Removal Company.
The Borough’s other towns are Raynes Park, Colliers Wood, South Wimbledon, Wimbledon Park and Pollard Hill. Raynes Park, South Wimbledon are probably better locations within the Borough to set up any removal company as these two towns are nearby the A3, which is the main road out of London to the south coast. The suitability from the location point of view for opening any transport and removal company will be analysed later in the article.
There are three interesting features related to Borough. First on the showbiz side, a lot of filming for popular ITV police drama The Bill takes place in Merton and the set of Sun Hill police station is also located in the Borough. Secondly with regard to the history of the Borough, the interesting fact is related to “Colliers Wood Tower” and which later on became known as the “Brown & Root Tower”. It was voted the ugliest building in London in a 2006 BBC poll and the 12th ugliest in the UK in a 2005 Channel 4 poll for its programme Demolition. Finally, with reference to sport, the Borough stages the international tennis tournament every summer in Wimbledon. It is the most prestigious tournament in the world plus Mitcham has the world’s oldest cricket green on which cricket is still being played.
In 1965, the creation of the new borough led to emergence of five new towns in Merton: Wimbledon, Morden, Mitcham, Raynes Park and Colliers Wood. They all became residential areas with their own commercial and shopping centres. Mitcham and Wimbledon can be very congested during the rush hours and are located at quite a distant from any of the main trunk roads. Raynes Park and South Wimbledon are near A3, which connects central London to the outer areas through Kingston Bypass towards Portsmouth. The A3 Intersects with M25 and hence accessible to both Heathrow and Gatwick. The easy access means a good location for a removal company. Wimbledon Village is also easily reachable to A3 and central London and therefore also good location for removal and transport company. In fact, Wimbledon Village is also suitable location for setting up a limousine hire company. Morden is on the edge of A24 and near A3, therefore this area also represents a good network for transport and removal company requirement. Gatwick and Heathrow factors also play important role in the also play an important role in viability of removal and transport company.
The Borough provides residence to multiethnic population which is manifested by the presence of the largest Ahmaddiya Mosque in Western Europe in Morden. There are many mosques and temples in the area. There is a Buddhist temple in Wimbledon where on 15 August of every year a chariot festival takes place, open to the general public.
